Summer has just begun and the picturesque Lake Champlain Islands await your arrival to unveil their natural beauty and historic treasures. From your comfortable accommodations at The North Hero House, the Islands” most popular and highly rated inn and restaurant, cycle with ease to the site of the 1609 landing of French explorer Samuel de Champlain, visit the world's oldest coral reef, enjoy a stroll around Vermont's first European settlement ( established in 1666), explore the famed “black marble” limestone quarry that has been used in the construction of many famous buildings including Radio City Music Hall, and discover the Hyde Log Cabin (one of the oldest in the U.S.) dating back to 1783.
The next day, spend some time peddling the gentle rolling hills of the Islands' lake shore bike routes which afford scenic views of Adirondack Mountains while traveling through orchards and the Islands' only vineyard. These are only a sampling of the exciting and interesting attractions you will discover on you two days of bicycling.
