There is no place on earth like Yellowstone National Park. No other place compares with its collection of geological features, bountiful wildlife, pristine rivers and streams, tumbling waterfalls, snow-frosted mountain peaks, virgin forests and scenic vistas. And in September, the crowds have gone, the weather is crisp, and the animals are out and busy preparing for the long winter.
Lace up your boots and sling on your daypack for four days of moderate hiking, wildlife viewing, and discovery in the world’s first national park! We’ll be led by an expert naturalist/guide from the Yellowstone Forever Institute on carefully chosen hikes to explore Yellowstone’s diverse
landscape; from the geyser basins around Old Faithful to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. We’ll search for elk, bison, grizzly bears, wolves, and other species that make the park their home. Be prepared to hike 4 to 8 miles at 7000 feet elevation each day in this active program. Each night we’ll return to our charming park hotels for excellent meals and comfortable accommodations.
An extra night in the Yellowstone area before the program starts will help us adjust to the altitude.
